Despite a quieter period, HSSF initiated several important projects and donated medical equipment to hospitals across Sri Lanka. Here is a look at each effort—what happened, what we donated, and whom it helps.
Mahiyanganya Regional Hospital
Cyclone Ditwah devastated parts of Sri Lanka in late November 2025, and Mahiyanganya Regional Hospital was among those affected. The hospital—the main referral facility for a wide rural area in Uva Province—sustained significant infrastructure damage. In response, HSC provided medical equipment, including ICU beds supplied by HSSF, to support the hospital’s recovery. Hospital administrators, HSC representatives, and local clergy attended the handover, which Sri Lanka Rupavahini also covered live.
HSSF sourced the equipment to meet the specific standards requested by the hospital’s clinical staff, allowing the hospital to put it into immediate use.

Homagama Base Hospital
After learning that the OPD wound dressing room at Homagama Base Hospital was in poor condition, the HSSF Board funded the necessary repairs and new equipment, including surgical dressing tables and furniture. Under the leadership of Venerable Rajawelle Subhuthi Thero, Director of HSC, HSSF and partner organizations donated medical equipment worth approximately LKR 40 million to Homagama Base Hospital.
The Hospital Services Support Foundation (HSSF) in San Francisco, USA, together with members of the Hospital Services Foundation in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, provided the medical equipment.
We sincerely thank Dr. Nilmini Silva and Mr. Amila for coordinating and facilitating the delivery of these medical supplies to Homagama Base Hospital. The wound dressing room serves dozens of patients every day. Although the renovation may appear modest, it has a direct and immediate impact on the quality and safety of the care those patients receive. Donors like you make all of these efforts possible.

Sithumini Pre-School
Cyclone Ditwah also badly damaged Sithumini Pre-School in Chilaw. The cyclone cracked the walls, tore away sections of the roof, and left the interior unsafe, forcing the school to suspend classes indefinitely.
At the request of Ven. Subhuthi Thero, HSSF connected a Bay Area donor with the project. The donor funded the school’s rebuilding, helping restore a safe learning environment for the community’s children. The work included structural repairs, fresh plastering and painting, and replacement of furniture and learning materials.
